This Game board is as simple as it sounds, after testing it for the last 20 years the only problem I have had as a music teacher is that as soon as they walk in the door, all they want to do is play "Piano Game Please!" I designed this game to help break up learning during lessons and get students to see and think differently all while taking a break from being in the same position at the piano but still being able to learn important skills. One of the things that inspired this game was the fact that when piano players are learning there is also an unlearning that has to happen- due to our brains being programmed for board games we are so used to counting "one" as the next step forward and moving from the square in front of us. This negatively effects understanding how to move in music and keeps the student from fully mastering how to count forward or backwards when changing notes with their hands. The problem in learning how to count notes in music is that the place of "one" is where you ALREADY are! Not where you are about to be!
This game helps to untangle the stumbling block that all learners run into- head on. You will also learn the pattern of the keys, how to remember where you are and where you are going (this is a bigger task than most realize at first!) and how to identify shark flats naturals white and black piano keys, intervals, and reading sheet music. There are 8 levels so this game grows with you and can be adjusted for any age and level that is playing. I am very excited to be able to share this game with more than just my music students, and also now they can all get their extra fun in outside of class!
